Statement of Faith

Our Christian Foundation

Indianapolis Christian School (ICS) provides a Christ-centered education firmly grounded in the values of orthodox Christianity. As a non-denominational school, we partner with local churches and families to disciple children, ensuring they receive a holistic education with a strong moral foundation for a purposeful and faithful life.

What We Believe

Our statement of faith serves as a summary of our beliefs, but it does not encompass the entirety of our convictions. We firmly acknowledge that the Bible, as the inspired and infallible Word of God, holds ultimate authority in matters of truth, morality, and human conduct. It is the sole and ultimate source of our faith and doctrine.

In the context of Indianapolis Christian School System’s faith, doctrine, practice, policies, and disciplinary matters, our School Board of Directors functions as the definitive interpretive authority, determining the meaning and application of the Bible’s teachings.

God

There is one living and eternal God who has revealed himself as a trinity in unity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is three persons but one God. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; Corinthians 8:6)

The Bible

Both the Old and New Testaments are the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God, sufficient for our knowledge of salvation and godly living – “a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path.” (Psalm 119:105; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21)

The Church

The body of Christ on earth, which exists to: bring glory to God, reach the world with the message of salvation, and edify the saved. (Ephesians 4:1-16)

Humanity and Sin

We believe that humankind was created, male and female, in the image of God. We believe that humankind fell through sin and that, as a result, sin and death entered the world, corrupting every aspect and experience of humanity, rendering each individual spiritually dead and totally depraved in their nature. We also believe that all humanity is therefore separated from God and wholly without hope apart from God’s grace (Gen. 1:26, 2:17; 6:5; Ps. 14:1-3, 139:1-16; 51:5; Jer. 17:9, 64:6; John 3:6, 6:35; Romans 3:10-19, 23, 6:23, 8:6-7, 1 John 3:8).

Salvation

We believe in the forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sins, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus. Salvation is attained by repentance, confession of faith, and baptism into Christ. Those who are saved should continually grow in their faith, dedicating their lives to His glory (John 3:16; Acts 2:38; Ephesians 1:7; Acts 3:19-21; Rom 10:9-10; 1 Cor. 6:9-11; Ephesians 2:10; 2 Peter 3:18).

Eternity

Jesus Christ will one day return for his followers, spending eternity with them and reigning as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Those who have rejected his offer of salvation will enter into a Christ-less eternal judgment. (1Thessalonians 4:13-18; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9; Revelation 17:14)

Marriage and Human Sexuality

We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female, and that these two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Genesis 5:2) We believe that God created marriage to be exclusively the union of one biological man and one biological woman, and that sexual activity is to occur exclusively within that marriage covenant (Genesis 2:24; Ephesians 5:25).
